Privacy Policy
Last updated
This policy explains how Coffee Moth Games ("we" or "us") handles personal information through this website, our games, our playtests, and when you get in touch with us. If you have a question about it, email privacy@coffeemothgames.com.
1. Information we collect
What we handle depends on how you interact with us.
- Things you send us. Your email address and name, if you include them, plus the content of your messages, feedback, bug reports, and any attachments.
- Playtests. If you take part in a playtest, we may collect your feedback, survey answers, bug reports, and information about the test session, such as how long you played or where something went wrong. If a playtest collects more than this, we will say so when you sign up.
- Playing our games. Our games are sold and run through Steam, which manages your account and purchases. To support online co-op, our games may use your Steam ID and display name to connect you with other players.
- Technical information. The company that hosts this website processes standard request information, such as IP addresses, browser type, and the pages requested, so it can deliver and protect the site.
2. How we use it
We use this information to answer messages, provide support, investigate bugs, run playtests, improve our games, keep our website working, and meet legal obligations.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing something you asked for, our legitimate interest in running and improving our studio and games, legal obligations, or your consent. If we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time by contacting us. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
4. Steam, Discord, and Patreon
Steam, Discord, Patreon, and other platforms you use to find or talk to us have their own privacy policies. They handle your account, purchases, and posts independently of us, so please check their policies too. Anything you post in our Discord server can be seen by the server's members and moderators, including us.
5. Cookies
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Sites and platforms we link to may use cookies under their own policies, and you can manage cookies in your browser settings.
6. How long we keep it, and security
We keep personal information only as long as we reasonably need it for the purposes in this policy, including support, game development, and legal requirements. How long that is depends on what the information is and why we have it.
We take reasonable steps to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No online service can guarantee complete security, so please don't send us sensitive information we haven't asked for.
7. Your choices and rights
Contacting us and joining playtests are always optional. Some information, like details about a bug, may be needed for us to help with a particular request.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or get a copy of your personal information, or to restrict or object to how we use it. To make a request, email privacy@coffeemothgames.com. We may need to ask for enough information to confirm your identity and find the relevant records, and we will respond as the law requires.
You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. For information held by Steam, Discord, Patreon, or another platform, contact that platform directly.
8. Children
This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information without your permission, contact us and we will delete it where required.
9. International processing
The services we use may process information in countries other than yours, where privacy laws may be different. Where the law requires safeguards for international transfers, we follow those requirements.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our games and practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If a change is significant, we will give additional notice or ask for consent where the law requires it.
